class="content__text" Spent a few minutes of Mother’s Day doing what I love : file folding 😂 • Kidding aside, PJs are something we all use every day. So having a drawer that doesn’t look like total chaos helps to add some calmness to your life - especially as you’re winding down a busy day and getting ready for bed 😌 • The last time I took everything out of my drawer and re-file folded everything was more than a year ago. It mostly looked good, but with new sets added to the mix over that time it needed an edit and re-set. Took about 15 minutes and done! class="content__text" Happy Mother’s Day, mamas! 🌸 I have the incredible responsibility and privilege of raising these girls to hopefully be mothers themselves someday. My prayer is that I will be able to pass along what I have learned from the moms in my life : • My mom has taught me heart-centered SERVICE. She will drop anything to be at me and my family’s side, and does it without an ounce of complaint but rather, joy and deep love. When I find myself impatient and acting selfish, I buck up and conjure up my mom’s heart. I also think the girls like her food more than mine, so thanks for always feeding them Mom 😂 • My mother-in-law has taught me STRENGTH. As a single mom who raised two incredible, smart humans on her own - all while teaching the kids in her classroom - I hope to instill the same resilience, independence, and commitment to growth and learning that has guided her. She also always brings fun games for the girls and good conversations to the table. Love you, Nancy 💕 • My grandmothers have taught me CREATIVITY, beauty, self care (back when self care was not a thing) perseverance, and making a house a home. One turned 90 this year (love you, Nana! Yes, she’s on Instagram!) and I’m certain she has many more years still ahead. My other grandma watches over us from above, and I know she has sprinkled down her grace and elegance onto these girls 🥰 • Sending my love to all the moms today! I hope you’re enjoy a good hot coffee, not a lot of snack requests, and plenty of snuggles and family time (or alone time! 🤣) 🙏🏼💐 xo #happymothersday #motherhood #mothersday

class="content__text" MINI TIP : a “valet hook” is a super inexpensive way to add some custom-closet-vibes to your closet 👕👚 You can attach it to cabinetry and shelving or directly onto a wall (like we did) and pull the rod out to hang outfits for the next day, park the dry cleaning, or use it for travel outfit planning when you’re packing. It’s really useful! class="content__text" Cheers - with WATER! 💦😉 On this week’s episode of Good To Be Home, we are inviting anyone who thinks they might need to examine their relationship with alcohol to join us in a judgement-free conversation 🧡 • What we have found from talking about sobriety on the podcast, sharing it here on social, hearing from those who have read Russ’ book, etc. is that there are unfortunately a LOT of people silently suffering from the shame and pain of an unhealthy habit. Add to that a global pandemic where stress levels are heightened, and maybe those who never struggled before are finding themselves in a new place of amplified alcohol consumption and deeper into a habit they didn’t have before. • What we have also found is that there are a LOT of people around you - your neighbors, your coworkers, your friends, your leaders and mentors - who choose not to drink and you may not be aware. Our general society leans towards an unspoken agreement that drinking is part of normal, successful adult life. But is it? And more importantly - should it be for you? • One myth I want to bust is that people who don’t drink can’t be around alcohol 🍷 Wrong! We are around it all the time in social situations and IT’S LITERALLY FINE. I don’t have to run away like a weirdo yelling “get that away from me!” 😂 Sober doesn’t mean weak - it actually is a strength and discipline we have gained. • Another myth? That life will be weird and boring without drinks 🙄 Wrong! I believed this, and now can say with absolute certainty that life is better. I enjoy social situations more because I’m more present in my conversations. I feel healthier and clearer, and when I relax I ACTUALLY relax with my full being. I am more aware to life 🌟 • We don’t think alcohol is bad - just want to encourage, like anything, to see what place it has in your life 🙏🏼 • I know a lot of you are wondering about this topic because of someone in your life may be struggling with alcohol. If so, please share this episode with them. class="content__text" Happy Sunday! We just watched church on the couch, ate pancakes, and I got to enjoy my cup of coffee while it was HOT! (🙌🏼) • Today I’m going to spend a little time switching out the girls’ summer clothes in their closet. I don’t rotate seasonal clothes in my closet because I have room, but their closet is shared and small so I like to only keep what they currently use in it. class="content__text" Happy 8th birthday to our gorgeous, vivacious Reese 🎉 As my firstborn, the moment I gasped and saw her squishy little face was the moment my life changed forever. That image will probably be the strongest memory I will hold with me for the rest of my life 🙏🏼 I actually knew what she was going to look like (blue eyes, brown hair, dimples, wide cheeks) before she was born, and ever since she could talk she’s had a very matter-of-fact connection and belief in God that has moved and strengthened me in my own faith. She is a true blessing to our family, a mix of the best parts of me (like attention to detail) and Russ (like the love of parties and fun) and I am grateful every day to get to be her mom 💕 We love you, Reesey! #birthday #eightisgreat #petitejoys

class="content__text" BEFORE + AFTER : This week’s episode of the podcast is about small organizing projects you can do around the house during quarantine 🏡 Let me give you an example with this monster of a cabinet I literally JUST organized from start to finish in under 20 minutes while I took a phone call! ⏱ • This is a cabinet in our home office where I have kept some decorations and gifts. Being very minimal with decorations in general and not being much of the type to keep gifts on hand, I never really set up a system here - which is WHY it it slowly became a disaster 😱 • The straw that broke this camel’s back was that Paige started playing around and pulling stuff out of it lately (out of creativity, bless her heart) but that left me with a mess that bothered me every time I walked by these closed cabinets, knowing there was chaos behind them 💆🏻‍♀️ • Encouraged by my own advice in my own podcast episode 🤣 I grabbed a garbage bag, popped in my AirPods for my weekly call with our podcast editor, and started taking everything out, categorizing and weeding things out in the progress 👋🏼 • What I placed back were birthday decorations, Easter decorations, and springtime decor, plus gifts that I do keep on hand like Diptyque and Jo Malone candle sets from the Nordstrom anniversary sale, my fave @begoodforkids lotion for kids, and of course, THE soap sets 😉 These don’t take up a big footprint of storage space, but if I need a quick hostess gift or something, my absolute favorite items are there for me to grab 🎁 • Then finished up the whole thing with clear bins and chalk labels (both which I always have ready) and ta-da! Under 20 minutes and done 🎉 • I have no shame showing you the before pics, because everyone has disorganized areas of their home - even the most organized people.
