class="content__text" Today, CARM is sharing two new songs from his upcoming album CARM II, out October 21 with 37d03d. First up is “The Ones You Love,” featuring Sid Sriram @sidsriram an Indian-American Carnatic musician, music producer, playback singer, and songwriter. The song was born from a session with Andrew Broder on keys, Evan Slack on guitar, Chris Bierden on bass, and Trevor Hagen on drum machine. “Sid’s virtuosity as a vocalist, without being over the top in its presentation, is something I’ve always strived for,” adds CJ, who is arranging horns for Sid’s upcoming album (also produced by Ryan Olson). Says Sriram, “"The One's you Love" feels like a powerful, anthemic offering, one that celebrates vulnerability and rising up with it as the flame.” “I Fall,” CARM’s collaboration with renowned composer Gabriella Smith, is “one of the most unique pieces of music I’ve made in any context,” says Camerieri, who names Smith “the best composer of her generation. Her singular voice as both a composer and singer has made me such a huge admirer.” In 2017-18, Smith composed two pieces for Camerieri’s contemporary classical group, yMusic, “Mare” and “Tessellations.” For “I Fall,” CJ sent Gabriella a track made with a soma pipe, modified with a trumpet mouthpiece. “It was such a cool sound world, unlike anything I had worked with before,” adds Smith, who worked on the piece from Norway. “I immediately started hearing this big, many-layered brass and vocal sound world on top of it. It was such a thrill to send CJ ideas, hear what he came up with, and weave them into the track.” Check out CARM on tour this fall in Europe with Bon Iver and headining next Spring in the US.

class="content__text" We're very happy to announce a new single plus tour dates from Bonny Light Horseman today. Listen to "Sweetbread" now! Hear what Josh has to say about the jam. “We cut ‘Sweetbread’ late in the evening at Long Pond studio last summer. Kinda like starting to watch a movie too late, everyone was getting a little sleepy-eyed. Anaïs went off to bed with her then-one-year-old while some of us kept jamming on the main riff for a while, unsure of what we were moving towards. It got really, really late and the tune we started playing had abstracted itself to an unrecognizable shape as we stretched and improvised through the form. The next morning listening back I thought this is SO groovy and different than anything we’d made up to that point, but very much still sounded like us. We were giddy to play it for Anaïs and have her take a pass singing over it. She sang the verses down over the improvised jam and it really felt magical to us. It’s very rare for this band to use a song without a live vocal, however it became the path forward for ‘Sweetbread.’ It’s a funny thing, texturally and energetically, quite a leap from the ethereal/oceany tones and vibes that tend to typify our sound, and on the other hand, since it’s drawing shape and inspiration from older folk songs like ‘Jack Of Diamonds’ and ‘Rye Whiskey,’ it’s very much in the wheelhouse of songs from our first LP… kinda like a sister song to Green Rocky Road or something. It’s adventure music and it’s elastic and it pays no mind as it jumps out of the speakers.”

class="content__text" CARM II, the follow up to CARM's celebrated self-titled debut, will be out October 21 with 37d03d and available for preorder on CD and LP. Once again produced by Ryan Olson, the album is a genre-defying, heartfelt exploration of the possibilities in provocative music-making, providing a homespace for a profound variety of voices. Check out the video for “More and More,” co-written by Edie Brickell, filmed in Montauk with director Graham Tolbert. Edie says “CJ’s trumpet melodies and phrases inspired 'More and More.' I just listened to him and followed his lead, trusted what came to mind, and sang it. It all flowed from his music.” The song also features Nadia Sirota on viola and bassist Jim Anton. The b-side “Essex Girl” features guitar and banjo from Kristian Matsson, with Sean Carey on drums, bassist Cole Davis, violinist Tim Fain, and cellist Gabe Cabezas. “Here’s a sound I promise you’ve never heard.” Thank you CJ! The album also features contributions from a ton of friends, including Justin Vernon, Gabriella Smith and Sid Sriram amongst many others. The album cover painting was made by the excellent painter Nick Weber, CARM photo by Shervin Lainez. Check out CARM on tour this fall.

class="content__text" NEW @bonnylighthorseman single is out today to take us around the bend this Summer. “Exile” is available where you jam jams. Eric says "The lyrics of this one open-ended as they may be are filled with primal and mythological fears - lion's dens hurricanes wild eyes and the deep dark. Fears that are conquered by naturally love love love. But please feel free to take what you want from this one story-wise. And if nothing more throw it on and do a slow-spin groove in front of your speakers.” The new album Rolling Golden Holy comes out 7 Oct, be sure to catch the band on tour this Summer and Fall. New dates have been announced today as well, including a London headline show. Photo by @djamesgoodwin
