Today, CARM is sharing two new songs from his upcoming album CARM II, out October 21 with 37d03d.

First up is “The Ones You Love,” featuring Sid Sriram @sidsriram an Indian-American Carnatic musician, music producer, playback singer, and songwriter. The song was born from a session with Andrew Broder on keys, Evan Slack on guitar, Chris Bierden on bass, and Trevor Hagen on drum machine. “Sid’s virtuosity as a vocalist, without being over the top in its presentation, is something I’ve always strived for,” adds CJ, who is arranging horns for Sid’s upcoming album (also produced by Ryan Olson). Says Sriram, “"The One's you Love" feels like a powerful, anthemic offering, one that celebrates vulnerability and rising up with it as the flame.”

“I Fall,” CARM’s collaboration with renowned composer Gabriella Smith, is “one of the most unique pieces of music I’ve made in any context,” says Camerieri, who names Smith “the best composer of her generation. Her singular voice as both a composer and singer has made me such a huge admirer.” In 2017-18, Smith composed two pieces for Camerieri’s contemporary classical group, yMusic, “Mare” and “Tessellations.”

For “I Fall,” CJ sent Gabriella a track made with a soma pipe, modified with a trumpet mouthpiece. “It was such a cool sound world, unlike anything I had worked with before,” adds Smith, who worked on the piece from Norway. “I immediately started hearing this big, many-layered brass and vocal sound world on top of it. It was such a thrill to send CJ ideas, hear what he came up with, and weave them into the track.”

Check out CARM on tour this fall in Europe with Bon Iver and headining next Spring in the US.
