The Norwegian dance group @frikar is renowned for merging traditional Scandinavian dance with a contemporary expression. They have now made a dance video where they interpret our song Andvevarljod (Link in bio). For a long time, we have admired FRIKAR and their skillful way of merging the past with the present in their artistic expressions. In many ways, very similar to our own musical approach to history and older Nordic traditions. Needless to say we were very exited when they wanted to create a video performance, giving their interpretation of our song Andvevarljod.

Recently, @einar_selvik visited the Opstad burial field in Sarpsborg, Norway. It is one of the largest pre-Christian burial sites in Norway and consists today of 130 round-mounds, 10 long-mounds and 1 of the mysterious triangular mounds (treodder/treudder), 3 stone circles and and some Menhirs. In addition to these, examinations of the earth underneath show many flat graves and cremation graves from as early as the Bronze Age. A lot of history and memory imprinted in the soil. Too bad the road cuts right through it but still, well worth a visit if you should ever be in the area!

I really enjoy visiting various historical sites. One thing is attraction itself but it is almost equally interesting to analyze the surrounding nature and the topography which can, in many cases add a lot to the “story” and understanding of such a place. Here are som images from my visit to the 4 meter long “Bjørnstad-ship” Bronze Age rock carving outside Sarpsborg in Norway. It is likely the largest ship carving in Northern Europe. It is situated right in the heart of what is the area of Norway where Bronze Age petroglyphs are most densely found. The carving hadn’t been colored in a while so I added a reference photo where you can see the ship more clearly. -Einar- @einar_selvik
