I really enjoy visiting various historical sites. One thing is attraction itself but it is almost equally interesting to analyze the surrounding nature and the topography which can, in many cases add a lot to the “story” and understanding of such a place. Here are som images from my visit to the 4 meter long “Bjørnstad-ship” Bronze Age rock carving outside Sarpsborg in Norway. It is likely the largest ship carving in Northern Europe. It is situated right in the heart of what is the area of Norway where Bronze Age petroglyphs are most densely found. The carving hadn’t been colored in a while so I added a reference photo where you can see the ship more clearly.
