class="content__text" In 1998, Santiago de Chile hosted the Summit of the Americas, with presidents from the entire continent gathering in the Teatro Municipal. After one of the summit sessions, all the presidents hopped into their limousines and left for their hotels. Except Bill Clinton, the former president of the United States. Out of the blue, he walked into a small random restaurant (with hordes of reporters and security guards behind him) and ordered a diet coke. He signed autographs, finished his coke and left. He didn’t leave a tip. The small restaurant immediately changed its name to La Pica de Clinton, re-designed its interior with faces of Bill Clinton and even put several ‘Bill Clinton dishes’ in their menu. He gave me gear and priceless advice such as ‘bring Snickers to fake shit in the high camps. You’ll need to show it to the park rangers’. @viktorschiller.sk thank you for your breathing programme that substitued the effects of hypoxic chamber and produced much needed red blood cells. Amazing what our body is capable of. @juancruzrodriguez23 the absolute best guide I could ask for. Attentive, willing to sacrifice himself, listening to my needs, fears and nonsense and helping me reach the top. I pooed as I was roped up to him with a harness around my waist at the altitude of 6600 metres above sea level, freezing cold with strong wind blowing my balls away. What a bonding experience, literally. Denali waiting, hermano. @dr_bentendo one of the expedition members who gave me his summit suit that literally saved my life and took me to the top. The best European whiskey is coming to North Carolina, buddy. @fjallravenofficial for most of my expedition gear. Not only was I super comfortable, but I also looked good. Everyone was jealous. Every single member of our @eliteexped expedition. For certain unfortunate events, our bond will forever be different and unique. And last but not least, guide Ángel Armesto for the words that took me to the summit when I had a terrible crisis halfway on the road to the top: ‘Shut the fuck up, you’re not having a heart attack. It was night and winter in the Himalayas and nobody was on the summit with us, which made us the tallest standing people on Earth at that moment. Out of 8,000,000,000. The tallest. I think it’s the most unique, interesting and perhaps shocking episode of the entire series, and probably my whole ‘career’.
