WHEN WE UPLIFT OTHERS, WE IN TURN UPLIFT OURSELVES 🙌 I have witnessed countless times how lasting change is possible when individuals take action to uplift their own communities. In our African cultures, we believe that a person is a person through other people. In other words, that our humanity binds us, connecting us to each other - thus making us all part of a greater whole, part of a community. This interdependence means that what impacts one of us, will eventually impact all of us in various ways – as witnessed this past year. So that’s why we have to be each other’s keeper, knowing that when we uplift others, we in turn uplift ourselves. MAKE A DIFFERENCE | 3 Simple steps to create change (i) IDENTIFY AN ISSUE that you care the most about (i.e. gender equality, racial justice, climate action, etc.) -- (ii) LEARN THE FACTS - read up about the issue, understand how it is impacting those around you. -- (iii) TAKE ACTION - you don’t have to do it alone, join one of the many local/global organizations advocating for change. Remember that no action is ever too small and that together we can drive our small actions into big change! #InternationalWomensDay

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused the largest disruption of education in history, impacting up to 1.5 billion learners due to school closures. Yet we know that when we rob young people of the opportunity to education, we also rob them of their dreams. The loss of those dreams—to get an education, to make life better for themselves and their families, to broaden their possibilities—is also a loss for our communities and countries. When a young people loses the opportunity to an education, none of us achieve the prosperity that we would otherwise enjoy. TAKE ACTION | 3 great organizations to support for education equality     •    @gpforeducation - is the largest global fund providing resources to ensure that more children in lower-income countries get access to education.     •    BooksForAfrica.org - donates books to students in Africa. Books For Africa, believes that education is the great equalizer in the world, and books are at the foundation of a strong educational system. They have thus far donated 50 million books to Africa.     •    @malalafund - works for a world where every girl can learn and lead. They invest in education activists/advocates who are driving solutions to barriers to girls’ education in their communities. #IWD
