WHEN WE UPLIFT OTHERS, WE IN TURN UPLIFT OURSELVES 🙌 I have witnessed countless times how lasting change is possible when individuals take action to uplift their own communities. In our African cultures, we believe that a person is a person through other people. In other words, that our humanity binds us, connecting us to each other - thus making us all part of a greater whole, part of a community. This interdependence means that what impacts one of us, will eventually impact all of us in various ways – as witnessed this past year. So that’s why we have to be each other’s keeper, knowing that when we uplift others, we in turn uplift ourselves. MAKE A DIFFERENCE | 3 Simple steps to create change (i) IDENTIFY AN ISSUE that you care the most about (i.e. gender equality, racial justice, climate action, etc.) -- (ii) LEARN THE FACTS - read up about the issue, understand how it is impacting those around you. -- (iii) TAKE ACTION - you don’t have to do it alone, join one of the many local/global organizations advocating for change. Remember that no action is ever too small and that together we can drive our small actions into big change! #InternationalWomensDay
