class="content__text" For the past year, I've been sitting on a bad boy piece of information🫣...THE LIST IS GOING TO HOLLYWOOD BABY, WITH @a24@hbomax@bbc 🎥🎬!!! After an 11 way publisher auction, there was a 17 way auction for the TV rights for #TheList. It still doesn't feel real to type and I do so not to stunt (okay, maybe to stunt a *teensy* bit because sometimes you have to in this life man!) but mainly because it was a book I wrote during one of the hardest times of my life, navigating a very difficult period emotionally and a nationwide lockdown to boot. I can't get my head around something like this coming out of the worst period ever but here we are! I obviously was completely unable to choose between three dream collaborators when given the chance, so instead, I wrote their names down in no order in my notes app and just prayed that all three could happen, somehow. Words therefore cannot possibly describe how I feel being able to announce this most beautiful thruple - it is quite literally a dream come true. Thank you so much to everyone who has backed this book (before it's even come out 😭), to @josiefreedman , Hannah Ladds and a special thanks to @hayleyemmasteed , who encouraged me to not only take The List out on submission - which I wasn't going to - but send it even though it was a 30k word unfinished manuscript! The true embodiment of it only taking one person to see the vision 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾 Right now, THE LIST (the book) is currently available for pre-order! #linkinbio

class="content__text" Q: You have been referred to as a “…frontline pioneer” for your work on race, feminism, popular culture. At what point did you realise you had the power to make people listen and take note?⁠ ⁠ A: At university, I started a pop culture blog for fun (I was studying law and not enjoying it!) and it gained a lot more traction than I expected. I was surprised people took the time to read it, as it was just my opinions, and I was no expert. ⁠ ⁠ An acquaintance of mine who used to read it once messaged me asking if I’d ever considered writing as a job - it hadn’t really occurred to me before he said it and I couldn’t conceive of someone paying for my writing, but it started to make me think about whether it was something I should take more seriously. ⁠ ⁠ We loved chatting with our PC PIONEER @yomi.adegoke in her gorgeous London home.
