class="content__text" One if the most joyful evenings of my life. @cyclingsultan invited me to a monthly jamming session by the musicians of various nations abd ethnicities here in Amsterdam. The place is called MAQAM and it had musicians from Morocco, Egypt, Syria, Holland, Korea, and many other places. One musician would start with their instrument or voice and slowly everyone would join in. @nomadmusicamsterdam and @esmail_bnaoe led the evening and by the end of it, everyone present was deeply moved and felt connected. (I also read a piece of Hindi poetry in which everyone jammed.)

class="content__text" Had just 30 hrs in Ahmedabad but we tried to make the most of it before 2022 drew to a close. Performed a solo show in public after a gap of almost 2 years - to a packed house at Natarani - and was so nervous that couldn’t eat anything the whole day before the show but thankfully it went well and the next morning we were off to Thol Bird Sanctuary. The most serene, majestic, wholesome place I have been to in the last few years. 1. The first view of the lake at Thol. Migratory birds could be spotted through our friend Vishal’s very powerful doorbeen. 2. As @chitra.vichitra saud, Thol feels like another planet. A planet of birds where you are a visitor for a few hours. 3. @chitra.vichitra on spotting a conference of birds flying low over the lake. 4. The tree that dreams of Del Toro. 5. Slow life. 6. The Sunrise. Plan to arrive at Thol around 20 mins before the Sun steps out (or around 30 mins before the Sunset in the evening) to maximise bird watching. 7. We were also lucky to stay at the Vikram Sarabhai family home - a place frequented by Mahatma Gandhi and Guru Tagore on their Ahmedabad visits. @mallikasarabhai ’s love and hospitality made it possible to touch and see a place with so much history, values, and art. The painting on the wall is by the great Haku Shah. 8. Another view of the Sarabhai house, The Retreat. 9. The exterior - you might have seen this portion recreated recently in ROCKET BOYS. 10. The window with sun, leaves, dust, and shadows of stories.

class="content__text" Absolutely THRILLED to announce that my debut feature @allindiarankmovie is going to INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL of ROTTERDAM (@iffr ) for its World Premiere as a rare Indian Film selected as the CLOSING FILM of the festival. Thanks for the extraordinary faith and love from my producers at @matchboxshots (@saritagpatil , Sanjay Routray, Sriram Raghavan) along with the Supervising Producer @vishal_bajaj_1603 and Executive Producer @pratikmr . This is a team full of so many newcomers. First time lead actors (@bodhisattvasharma and @samta_sudiksha ), debutante DOP (@making_all_things_new_ ), debutante Production Designer (@prachi.deshpande ), composers @mayukhmainak making their Hindi cinema debut, and @theolddrifter working on his first film as an animator. And then there are lots of old friends and experienced hands who guided the film throughout shaping this journey - starting with the most awesome @djangokaza as the editor, @castingbay (Anmol, Deepak, Priyasha), @sabinahalder as Costume Designer, @happiisoul (as Chief AD), @mahak_gupta_ as Colorist, Vinit D’souza as Sound Designer, @mohitpandey5 as Script Supervisor. And then there were Arun Sharma and @mannan.arya as line producers, @devendra_charankar as Second Sched Chief, @siddhimadubey as Second Sched Script Supervisor, Gaurav Singh as Sound Recordist, Devdas Gupta as Makeup stylist, Mauli Singh as the Associate Producer, Ravi Singh and Vishal Thakkar as UPMs, and experienced gems @shetty.bhushan and Geeta Agarwal AND THE @sheeba.chadha in the cast. Over the years, i have been telling many people who make their first films ki iss shehar meiN poori film bana lena ek miracle hai. Achhi ya buri jaisi bhi bane wo baad ki baat hai - film ban gayi ye Chamatkaar hai! Thanks to a fantastic team (it takes a village) of ADs, camera assistants, light and sound team, spotboys, electrical and grips teams, the vehicle and food coordinators, the junior artists, the drivers and makeup, hair teams - too huge a list to name individually here, we did a miracle! Hope to show it to the world soon, and especially here in India!

class="content__text" Watching @anoushkashankarofficial and her band perform live in Mumbai last night was definitely one of the high points of this year. Magnificent display of craft, compositions, and harmony between supposedly alien-to-each-other instruments like Sitar and electronica or Cello. Sitar takes centrestage as other fantastic instruments circle around to create some of the most surprising raga-interpretations come alive. Don’t miss it whenever you get a chance to witness this live.
