class="content__text" Tusk’s project partners @conservation_lower_zambezi , have been working with local communities to provide human-wildlife conflict workshops. With Tusk’s support, CLZ were able to hold two living with elephants and anti-snaring workshops. These platforms give communities the important opportunities to bring up - and work through - grievances and to discuss how to better mitigate crop raids from wildlife, including elephants and hippos. class="content__text" Our project partner @karinganimozambique operate in Southern Mozambique, bordering South Africa’s Kruger and Limpopo National Parks. The project has been busy collaring elephants with local school children. The deployment of the scientific and security-based elephant collars created an opportunity to engage with local community members about the benefits of elephant conservation. An essay competition was offered to Grade 5 and Grade 7 students in schools of the nine surrounding local communities. The winning authors and their teachers were then able to take part in the elephant collaring process.

class="content__text" Jumping for Joy with our Pan-African Conservation Education (PACE) books! EcoBuddies were excited to finally make a start to their weekly club, consisting of 23 grade 5 & 6 children. Due to a strong flowing river between the school and the community, they had to wait to be able to get across to fetch the books. The first session focused on soil and we hope this is the first of many more conservation education classes. #ConservationEducation

class="content__text" Wildlife Action Group (WAG) Malawi was created in response to severe illegal commercial deforestation and poaching in Thuma Forest and Dedza Salima Escarpment Forest Reserve. @wagmalawi scouts and anti-poaching patrols have secured the ongoing protection of these two forest reserves, leading to a significant increase in wildlife populations. Tusk’s funding goes to the ranger teams and other staff, ensuring these areas remain protected. These photos were taken when family members and friends attended the graduation ceremony for the ranger’s basic refreshers course.
