class="content__text" seeing the white and blue houses of Essaouira’s medina for the first time, it was hard not to be reminded of the iconic architecture of Greek islands like Mykonos or Santorini. Hopping along Morocco’s coastline was significantly cheaper, and with a fraction of the tourists you’d encounter on Greece’s most famous islands. While I love both countries, Morocco’s rugged and untouched coastline, mixed with its historic and culturally rich medina, makes for an amazing, budget-friendly alternative to splurging in Greece. A few recs for Essaouira - Stay at Essaouira Beach Hostel, great value for $12 a night with free breakfast, gorgeous rooftop views, and a great social atmosphere. It’s right along the beach and just a 15 minute walk to the Medina. Rent a car for about $25 a day and cruise down the coast. My favorite stops were Imsouane, Tafedna, and Sidi Kaouki. We didn’t quite make it to Taghazout or Tamraght, but I’ve heard those are amazing as well. If you don’t want to rent a car, the Souk to Surf shuttle service is a good option for travelers that takes you to all the main spots, although pretty pricy compared to typical bus prices in Morocco. Food can be pricier in the medina, but outside, I could get a meal for < $4 consistently. Essaouira is a good nightlife destination, although the bars and clubs are quite empty in the off-season. A beer on average is $3-5, pretty standard as far as Morocco goes. Hit up Essaouira’s fish market, the sprawling Sunday market, and roam through the labyrinthine alleyways and along the fortress walls. Essaouira’s popular among surfers and kite surfers, and Essaouira Beach Hostel offers rentals and lessons for both sports. Easily one of my favorite places in Morocco 🇲🇦

class="content__text" a quick glimpse of the pure sensory overload that is Marrakech 🇲🇦 Cramped souks, chaotic plazas, and a thrilling game of chicken every time you try to cross the road. Marrakech is one of the most energetic cities I’ve been to, filled with life and vigor to an almost overwhelming point. It was one heck of an intro to Morocco and the many faces of a country with so much depth and diversity. Quick tips: Hostel: Riad Layla Rouge, or one of their 3 sister hostels. Budget-friendly, cozy family vibes with free breakfast and perfect locations. Food: $3-5 per meal, although don’t hesitate to hit up a nice rooftop restaurant with great views for $8-10 per meal. Street food can fill you up for $1-2. Things To Do: Spent most of my time aimlessly wandering the Medina and its many souk streets. Walk the gardens by the Koutoubia, check out Bahia Palace and the ruins of Badi Palace, but besides that, just dive into the chaos.

class="content__text" Picking this series back up with my favorite hidden gem of Europe 🇦🇱 Albania is one of the wildest rides I’ve ever been on, pure nonstop chaos and literally not a single moment where I knew what was going to happen next. Just go with the flow and come to the country with an open heart and open mind and the people will welcome you and take care of you as one of their own. Adventure at its finest.

class="content__text" Another year of traipsing around the world with a backpack strapped on each side of me 🌎 From festivals to mountain passes, the Andes to the Karakoram, and the countless sleepless nights at airports and cramped overnight buses in between, it’s been a ride y’all. Shout out to all the friends new and old I’ve encountered along the way for always shaking ass with me no matter if we’re in a nightclub in Greece or thousands of meters high in the Himalayas. Let’s see where 2023 takes us 🌏

class="content__text" Realized there are a whole lot of Mexico videos I made before Instagram rolled out reels, so going to do a Mexico video dump over the next few days before I hit the road and go back to ~ creating content ~ once every 27 days. To kick it off, we visit my favorite Pueblos mágicos, or magic towns, in Mexico. Over 100 towns in Mexico have been given the Pueblo mágico distinction, usually given to places with deep cultural or historical significance. Rich indigenous traditions, historic colonial center, ancient ruins or natural wonders nearby? Pueblo mágico. I’ve been to about 40 of them, and while some I wouldn’t waste my time in, there are quite a few that live up to the magic in their names. Here are my three favorites 🇲🇽

class="content__text" On to Peru, the country where I fell in love with backpacking and have spent nearly a year wandering aimlessly around every corner of this diversely beautiful country 🇵🇪 In my opinion, the best country for nature-lovers and adventurous souls, with countless hikes and treks in whatever environment you could imagine. You’ll be well fed throughout with amazing food from kind and welcoming people. This country is so much more than just Cusco and Machu Picchu 🇵🇪

There are few regions out there that compare to South East Asia, perfect for beginner backpackers and seasoned travelers alike. Hope this helps with some trip ideas and itinerary planning 🇵🇭🇱🇦🇻🇳🇰🇭🇹🇭🇸🇬🇲🇾🇮🇩 :) Also lol that Instagram is now all reels and Tik Tok is all photo slideshows
