A beautifully preserved 16th-century portrait of a young noblewoman in full court dress by Alonso Sánchez Coello. The work dates from the period when Coello was active as a painter for the Portuguese and Spanish royal families. The high lace ruff, tight collar, and richly embroidered black dress of the sitter, compare very closely with the costumes worn by other court figures painted by the artist during this time.
