Thanksgiving is a period of remembrance and mourning for me. A time to recall true history of my indigenous ancestors. A time to reflect on what it means to be truly thankful, to be truly compassionate. Over 46 million turkeys are killed for thanksgiving in the US alone, every year. This is Sun. Sun is safe. Sun is loved. Sun is here to symbolize the life all turkeys deserve. One of my many ways of giving thanks this year, is by becoming a #TurkeyGuardian for Sun at @thegentlebarn. I quit modeling as a career 2 years ago. Adios to years of promoting fast fashion, facilitating revolving trends that make people feel left behind if they don’t consume enough and not least the impact the industry has on earth-people-animals. Now- I’m so grateful when an eco-conscious project presents itself. When @sanlorenzo_bikinis asked me to be a part of their new sustainable retro collection, I was stoked. It’s projects like these that I’ll gladly take time away from the kitchen to create.

We’re moving. We took a trip to upstate New York to explore the land, visit the town and my favorite animal sanctuaries. In pursuit of a place to call home, acres of land to grow our own food and build our animal sanctuary - this was 1/4 of the exploration trip. I urge everyone in this time to try and find land, even the smallest bit. Learn to grow your own food, work the land and create food independence from billionaires and their corporations. Do what they and so many others aren’t doing, appreciate the land. Be earth stewards. I can’t wait to find where we want to set our roots. Next stop Montana, Texas (my home state) and Colorado. ❤️
