PA skills can start at 3! Activities like this help prepare your child's brain to be able to read.

Our brains did not evolve to be able to read. 🧠

Phonological awareness skills sort of rewire our brains to be able to connect written and spoken language! We repurpose parts of our brain that evolved to take care of different functions.

I started this journey with Jonah when he was 2. Just a few minutes here and there in the car, on the couch, or on a scooter ride. It's amazing what little minds can do with a little practice and time. ❤️

Because he knows his letter sounds and can segment and blend 2-4 sounds easily. He can read 2-4 letter words on his own, as long as they contain sounds that he knows. He only knows A-Z short vowels for now.

All of this was achieved through fun games, activities, songs, and time. As a mom and teacher who sees how many students are impacted by schools and programs not teaching reading accurately, this was important for me to stay ahead of!

I've seen firsthand how much time it takes to undo poor reading instruction.

I have a F R E E phonological awareness resource if you'd like to start with your child or students!
