Three NRT coastal community conservancies of Pate, Kiunga, and Lower Tana, are leading the way in mangrove restoration and protection in Lamu, Kenya. Since 2018, communities, primarily women, have planted 95,494 mangroves, which are critical weapons in the fight against climate change.

So far, communities have restored more than 15 hectares of mangrove forest cover. With support from @nature_africa , Kenya Forest Service (KFS), Kenya Marine and Fisheries Institute (KMFRI) and the County Government of Lamu, they hope to restore 35,000 hectares in five years.
