class="content__text" Hello! @__emcole__ here taking over @motherlondon Instagram this week, sharing some personal work both old and new. To sign off here are a few more photos that stylist @georgiathompson and I took in our garden. We love experimenting with scale, texture and composition in a playful way. Thanks for having me!

class="content__text" Hello! @__emcole__ here taking over @motherlondon Instagram this week, sharing some personal work both old and new. Here are some people I’ve met out and about in the past year or so around the UK. Never having actually taken my camera outside of a studio before and a bit bored, I found going to niche conventions and celebrations a great way to practice with no pressure to take a good photograph. After lockdown and a bout of illness, being amongst people expressing themselves in joyous environments really helped me connect with photography again.

class="content__text" Hello! @__emcole__ here taking over @motherlondon Instagram this week, sharing some personal work both old and new. For day 2 I’m sharing a couple of video projects. First up is the short film ‘I’m Your Venus’, a tongue-in-cheek critique on the male gaze, where the performers end up revealing just thin air. Referencing 70’s cinema and Magritte, with the help of lots of green paint 🎨 I made this into an AR exhibit piece where our performer only comes to life through the voyeuristic eyes of a screen. Made back in 2017

class="content__text" Hello! @__emcole__ here taking over @motherlondon Instagram this week, sharing some personal work both old and new. For day 1 here are some of the first photos I took, together with my friend @eddleigh a few years ago now. We carried 10 bags of sand up to the studio and made the grass and rocks out of brown wrapping paper and kids craft paper the night before, can you tell?

For day 1 here is a series ‘Earthly Delights’ that I shot with my housemate, stylist @georgia_thompson in our garden last summer for @port_magazine with some little creatures, and backdrops held down from the wind by baked bean tins in Sainsbury’s bags. Hand printed at @rapideye.darkroom

class="content__text" Hello! @elliesmithphoto here. Linking back to the work about sisters in my previous post, these images are of my sister Sophie, who I’ve been taking photographs of for a long time - it’s always felt instinctive for me to do so. It’s only recently that I’ve started thinking of these images in a more formal way, looking back into my archive and thinking about the portraits as a collection for the first time, planning the future pictures we might make, and beginning to photograph other sisters too - exploring different ways of marking our relationship.
