class="content__text" Popular sandwich chain Subway has just announced it will be permanently closing all of its restaurants in Malta 👀 "We want to thank all of you who have always been there to enjoy the taste of Subway," an announcement on social media posted this evening read. "We know the love for Subway never ends and we look forward to seeing you again." 🗣️ With a history spanning all the way back to 1965, Subway became a beloved, somewhat healthier alternative to fast food across the world. In the last five decades, the chain opened over 39,000 locations across the planet, eventually finding itself in key locations around Malta such as Sliema and University 🇲🇹 "We will be waiting for you with freshly made ingredients at our locations around the world," Subway Malta's statement finished 🗣️ What do you make of this? class="content__text" A factory-sealed first generation iPhone was sold for $63,356.40 at an online auction, selling for over a 100 times more than its original cost of $599. A woman by the name of Karen Green had earned herself a new job in 2007 and as a sweet gesture to celebrate, her friends pitched in to buy her the brand-new iPhone. Despite many people clamouring to get their hands on the revolutionary smartphone, Green was not one them as she had recently just upgraded her new phone and wasn’t ready to switch so quickly. “I didn’t want to get rid of my new phone and I figured it’s an iPhone, so it’ll never go out of date.” Green explained in an interview. She kept the first-gen 8GB phone tucked away in its sealed box and noticed that as the gears went on, a collector might find it valuable. Her suspicions were confirmed when appraisers estimated its worth of $5,000. However the results of an online auction shattered all expectations when Green’s iPhone sold for $63K. Louisiana-based auction house LCG Auctions, described the smartphone as a “hot-ticket” for collectors and investors, as it showcased the sharp corners front and back magnificently while still maintaining it's rich colour and “case fresh features.” Would you buy an old iPhone for that much money?

class="content__text" A woman has been hospitalised following a traffic accident in Mdina this morning. Police were informed of a traffic accident in Triq Ta’ l-Infetti, Mdina, at around 8.45am. Initial investigations showed that a Mazda MX-30, driven by a 45-year-old woman from Pembroke, had collided with a Toyota Vitz, driven by a 35-year-old woman from Dingli. A medical team were called to the scene to assist, with an ambulance taking the 35-year-old to Mater Dei for further treatment. She was later certified with grievous injuries. class="content__text" A coal mine in China’s northern region collapsed yesterday, killing at least five people and 48 others still currently missing. The open-pit mine collapsed during a landslide, leaving multiple workers buried under the massive debris of half a kilometre wide and an estimate of 80 metres high. The state media have addressed that 300 rescue workers were on site using heavy machinery and rescue dogs to help search for as many trapped miners as possible. “I had just started work at 13:15 when I realised that rocks were falling from the mountain,” said a hospitalised miner. Coal is a major source of energy in China however, its mines are among the world’s deadliest, due to lax enforcement of safety standards. Government orders have been repeated over the years to improve the safety, unfortunately not much has been improved. “We must make every possible effort to rescue the missing persons and treat the injured,” China’s President Xi Jinping ordered. He also demanded a quick investigation into the cause of the collapse.

Lil Pump rose to stardom back in 2017 with underground hits like Boss, D Rose and ESSKEETIT, before major collaborations with the like of Kanye West – and even Donald Trump, having appeared in one of the former US president’s campaign rallies. He also somehow got drug-fuelled actor Charlie Sheen to appear in one of his videos at his peak. Lil Pump is the latest rapper to be announced for Havana, following the likes of Arrdee and Aitch. class="content__text" Last night two of the brightest planets in our sky, Jupiter and Venus, have slowly been making their way to align with the moon. The planets and moon will be perfectly aligned this evening as they move closer towards one another 🌙 Jupiter and Venus have been making their way towards each other throughout the month of February. They are the brightest planets in the sky, thus making them easy to spot with the naked eye and a clearer visual can be seen with the aid of binoculars or a telescope 🔭 The planets will be aligned tonight with a 17% lit crescent moon and will be seen clearly an hour after sunset 👀 Venus and Jupiter will get close for a closer conjunction on the 1st of March. Fear not, the two planets in reality are incredibly far apart and are in no danger of colliding physically 😅 Have you seen the two planets around our moon?
