God arise and cut short the lives of those who cut short the life of my son- late Sylvester Oromoni's mum breaks down in tears as she prays after Lagos state govt exonerated Dowen college students and staff of complicity in her son's death In a video released this afternoon, Mrs Oromoni who could not hold back tears, prayed for God to fight for her and cut short the lives of all those who cut short the life of her son. An aggrieved Mrs. Oromoni went on to pray that God should cut short the lives of all those supporting her son's killers and make them feel the pain that she is feeling. The devastated mum said everyone celebrated Christmas and New Year but she did not celebrate with her son.  She prayed that God should arise and deal with those that are trying to turn the case upside down to give her late son an evil name.

The federal government has introduced an excise duty of N10/litre on all non-alcoholic, carbonated and sweetened beverages. Zainab Ahmed, minister of finance, budget and national planning made the announcement during a public presentation of the 2022 Appropriation Act in Abuja on Wednesday January 5. Ahmed said the excise duty was introduced in line with the Finance Act signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari on December 31, 2021. She also added that this might discourage excessive consumption of sugar beverages which contributes to diabetes, obesity among others. The Minister said “There’s now an excise duty of N10/ per litre imposed on all non-alcoholic and sweetened beverages. “And this is to discourage excessive consumption of sugar in beverages which contributes to a number of health conditions including diabetes and obesity. “But also used to raise excise duties and revenues for health-related and other critical expenditures. “This is in line also with the 2022 budget priorities.”

Lagos state govt clears all five students and staff arrested over Sylvester Oromoni's death, says autopsy report ruled out case of murder and toxicology found no harmful substance in his body The Lagos State Government has cleared five students and five employees of Dowen College accused of complicity in the death of 12-year-old Sylvester Oromoni. The state cleared them as well as the school following the Legal Advice of the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, Ms. Adetutu Oshinusi. According to the legal advice addressed to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID and the trial magistrate, Magistrate Olatunbosun Adeola, the interim and final autopsy reports issued by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital and toxicology report of post mortem samples and that of the Central Hospital, Warri were in agreement as to the cause of death namely: Septicaemia, Lobar Pneumonia with Acute Pyelonephritis, Pyomyositis of the right ankle and Acute Bacteria Pneumonia due to severe Sepsis. The legal advice added that the result of the toxicology is also not indicative of any toxic or poisonous substance in the body of the deceased as claimed by the family. The DPP’s legal advice, therefore, concluded that based on these findings, there is no prima facie case of murder, involuntary manslaughter and or malicious administering of poison with intent to harm against the five students, Favour Benjamin aged 16, Micheal Kashamu (15), Edward Begue (16), Ansel Temile (14) and Kenneth Inyang (15). The state also cleared the minors of belonging to unlawful society due to insufficient facts to establish the offence. ''From available facts in the duplicate case file, the investigation carried out by the Police did not reveal that any secret society name, tattoo or insignia of any unlawful society was found in the possession of any of the suspects during the investigation carried out by the Police. “To hold otherwise would amount to sniffing for an offence and a speculative act which is not permitted in law. Sanwo-Olu: If it was Governor Wike that that CSP disobeyed, he would have known that there are governors and there are Governors- Reno Omokri Reno Omokri has reacted to the viral video of a Chief Supretendient of Police openly disobeying the Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu's directive to vacate the Magodo residential area on Tuesday, January 4. Recall that the state governor had visited the area after the residents had taken to the street to protest the continuous presence of policemen in the estate. A few weeks ago, police officers numbering about 50 stormed the estate in the company of some persons believed to be landgrabbers to demolish the houses. They say they were acting on a court order obtained from the Supreme court. They were however stopped but they have since laid siege in the estate. Governor Sanwo-Olu who arrived the area in the afternoon wanted to use his power as the Chief Security Officer in the state to order the police officers to vacate the area but they outrightly disobeyed him. According to the CSP who spoke, they were sent by the IGP through the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and that the governor should call them if he wants them to leave. Reno in a post shared on social media said the CSP would have known the difference if he tried this action with Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike.

Activist Amara The Lesbian reveals that her former partner, Uyai Ikpe-Etim was once married to a man as she releases their chats in defence, calls out gay activist Mathew Blaise for reportedly being “manipulative”. Amara who was countering Uyai’s claim of subjecting her to abuses, disclosed that she decided to go public with her truth so “it can set her free”. The activist confirmed that she and her main partner, Olayinka were in a relationship with Uyai, but disclosed that it was the idea of the younger sister of actress Nse Ikpe-Etim, for the three of them to be in a romantic relationship. Accusing Uyai of weaponizing her mental health in her former marriage with a man and with lesbian activist, Pamela who was also formerly married to a man, she alleged that Uyai never worked in any of her lesbian relationships. Accusing Uyai of pinning abuses she and her main partner, Olayinka subjects each other to in the first two years of their relationship on her, she also wondered why the actress’ younger would say she pronounced her a lesbian even though she was 29 while she (Amara) was 23 at the time they met. Asides accusing Uyai of torturing and abusing her ex-husband, she also described her as “manipulative”. Also calling out gay rights activist Mathew Blaise, she disclosed that she began withdrawing from him because he was allegedly manipulative too. She disclosed that Mathew left his bills for them even though he knew they were struggling. Amara further disclosed that her main partner, Olayinka also witnessed same. The activist also called out another Nigerian lesbian couple, Bibi and Kelly who she accused of being “users”.

A Mississippi police officer responding to a shooting over the weekend discovered that the victim was her son.    Authorities were called to the scene on Larkin Street — just blocks from the Hazlehurst Police Department — early Sunday, Jan. 2.   "We initially responded to the call not knowing, when I made it over there, the person was going to be my son that was laying there," Officer Laquandia Cooley told NBC affiliate WLBT of Jackson.   The man, Charles Stewart Jr., 20, was d€ad in the middle of the street with a gunshot wound to the head.   "As we get out, I look and I was like, 'This is my son, this is my son,'" Cooley said. "So I literally just go into a breakdown, you know? Like, why? Who would do this to my son?"     As of Tuesday, Jan 4, it was not clear what led to the shooting or whether an arrest had been made.   “I couldn’t even believe what I was seeing. I was seeing my own son laying there on the ground d€ad. It was pretty much a panic. It was just, it was too much," Cooley said.   Charles Stewart, the victim's father, described his son as a good person who got along with everyone.    “It’s traumatizing for the whole family. We’re just trying to cope day to day," he said. "Just trying to figure out why this happened and who could have did this.”   Police Chief Darian Murray confirmed the incident to NBC News. He told WLBT that the case will be handled by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation because it involves an officer’s family member.

2023: 100 Bishops, other Christian clerics Announce 3-day prayer at Unity Fountain for Governor Yahaya Bello No less than 100 Christian clerics, mostly Bishops, have announced their intention to hold a three-day prayer and fasting for Governor Yahaya Bello's emergence as president in 2023.  According to a statement signed by the convener, Bishop Jonathan Praise, on Tuesday, in Abuja, the clerics are drawn from each state of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.  He noted that over 1,000 church leaders are also expected alongside their pastors at the Unity Fountain Abuja, the venue of the prayers.     Bishop Jonathan said the purpose of their gathering is to provide a spiritual shield and support for Governor Bello, who according to him is "God's anointed choice to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari".  Like the Biblical account of David, he explained that Governor Bello is a man after God's heart and must be protected by all means to fulfil his purpose.  Recalling how Bello rose to become governor, the Bishop said it was not mere coincidence but destiny, adding that he would again shock critics at the next polls.  "In the Scriptures, there is no king who was the apple of God’s eye like David. The heart of God had a special affection for the man who was later described by the Lord as, a man after my heart, who will do all my will. (Acts 13:33)," Bishop Jonathan said.  "David was not perfect. He failed and sinned in many ways. So why did God love and bless him so much? Because God chose him. Yahaya Bello is our David. He embodies all his traits.  "Like David, Bello is young, focused, dedicated, charismatic, passionate, compassionate, kind. Name it. He is a man that loves God".  Bishop Jonathan said aside from the spiritual aspects which have been revealed to him and other clerics, Bello had outperformed all the so-called aspirants.  He said the governor's innate leadership qualities, innovations and doggedness are what is needed at this critical time in Nigeria.  " Even if we do away with the spiritual aspect and focus on the physical, Governor Bello is unmatched.
