Baptist minister and activist Dr Martin Luther King Jr. dedicated his life to ending segregation in the United States of America. He played a pivotal role in the creation of the Civil Rights Act in 1964. He was assassinated on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee. In 1983, President Ronald Reagan signed a bill that created a federal holiday to honour King. The holiday is celebrated on the third Monday in January. #MLKDay
