class="content__text" Do you feel pain when looking at pictures like this? Dropknees are definitely one of the most unnatural positions you do in climbing but sometimes they are necessary or at least make certain moves a lot easier. class="content__text" Lot's of good memories from trips in the past, like this one from Oliana with a lot of great friends and some hard ascents including my first 9b back in 2014. You probably all know about the massive fire that hit the beautiful wall of Oliana last summer. I heard good news that most of the routes are in their old shape and some amazing people put in a lot of work to fix a lot of the damage that has been done. I think there is still some caution to be taken if you want to climb there, probably best to get in touch with locals. I personally really like watching them since they can save you a lot of time when figuring out the beta of a route or boulder. Be careful though, sometimes you might overlook the best beta for you by following those of others. class="content__text" Training for modern climbing comps is pretty complex. It's not only about spending as much time as possible on the walls. You need to identify your weaknesses and work on them, even if it would be a lot more fun to do what you are actually good at. class="content__text" Started the new year with a fun trip to Ticino! Although the conditions were far from perfect with a lot of rainy days, the vibes were still amazing due to the best crew 🙏 The main goal of the trip was to try Alphane a lot but unfortunately even this boulder was wet in the beginning and once it finally dried up I got a huge split which made it difficult to do some serious send goes. Still got to train on it though and hope to return soon 💪🏻 The good thing about it was that I got to climb on some other cool boulders, some of which I always wanted to climb. class="content__text" I started the new year with a trip to Ticino and while the weather was much worse than expected there was some couch-time to reflect on 2022. Definitely a year to remember with many ups and some downs. 3 moments I will not forget: Photo 1&2 Combined European Champion! Even though ECs didn’t mean the world to me in the past this was a very special victory for me. First of all it was the only big main event of the year and I have actually never been European Champion before. Even more importantly it was the first time we got to compete in the new Olympic Combined format. The whole event was absolutely amazing and winning in this ambience was unforgettable 🙏 • 4&5 Red Rocks! I unfortunately failed to send my main goal of the trip - Sleepwalker - but still had an amazing time with the boys @michael.piccolruaz , @nicolaiuznik and @thiloschroeter including a mandatory casino visit in Vegas 😂 P.S.: I also won $100 at a dead-hang challenge in Vegas downtown – but that’s a separate story..😄 • 5&6 One of the hardest mental fights I ever had was with Project BIG in Flatanger together with @adam.ondra , @alfons_dornauer and @domen_skofic Even though I failed on both Sleepwalker and project BIG, the trips were amazing and taught me a lot. AND they are not getting out of my head, so I‘m even more psyched to train hard and come back for both of them to show‘em who is the boss 😉 • Thanks to everyone who made 2022 so special 🙏🙏 • • @mammut_swiss1862@gloryfy_unbreakable@raiffeisentirol@lasportivagram@subaru_austria@thecrag_worldwide

class="content__text" Finally got to touch Alphane! What an amazing boulder 😍 I love longer boulders like this where it‘s not all about one move but more about connecting everything together and climbing in the most efficient way. The moves are super fun and not too bad on the skin which makes it even better to try hard and a lot. I was able to do all the moves pretty quickly and on my 4th day I send it starting from the 3rd move in. A pretty promising link. Adding ‚just‘ 3 moves might not seem too hard but in a long and tiring boulder like this it can be a big deal. class="content__text" Where people climb vs. where I climb -> swipe • + a few interesting facts from @thecrag_worldwide that show that climbing will just never get old: - 57 new routes graded 9a or harder were established in 2022 - 13 new boulders graded 8C+ or harder - in total over 130k new routes were added to the climbing world this year. • Wow! These numbers get me psyched. Climbing is, without a doubt, one of the greatest sports out there and will always be.
