About 12 years ago, I was in a tiny bar in Paris and saw some uber-cool Serge Gainsbourg-looking fellow across the room wearing the most strikingly unique, elegant watch I’d ever seen. So I fully approached this stranger in butchered French and asked him what he was wearing. It was a 1980’s era gold @audemarspiguet Royal Oak. Of course I had heard of the brand but not being a huge watch connoiseur at the time, I had never seen this model—(meanwhile Jay-Z was obviously a little ahead of me, having collaborated with AP all the way back in 2005). Anyway, it took me a minute but back in NYC, I tracked one down and haven’t worn anything else since. So when Audemars Piguet approached me to be their musical brand ambassador, I really didn’t think about it for more than a second. And visiting their factory and museum in Le Brassus recently, the craftsmanship and legacy is truly on another level. I can’t wait to play you what we’ve been cooking up for their #APxMusic series. Amid all the (extreme) crazy, 2021 had some real highlights. @appletvplus put out my docuseries Watch the Sound, a true labour of love. I interviewed some of my faves from @pharrell to @jbrekkie for the fader uncovered. Played my first live dj set in 510 days (it's good to be back!). @yebbasmith released her staggeringly heartbreaking and wonderful "Dawn", one of my favorite records I've EVER been a part of. Me @diplo and @elliegoulding celebrated "new love" (and "electricity" broke 500M streams @dualipa). Oh and speaking of new love, I married the woman of my dreams and absolute best friend--Grace, I love you. Here's to 2022 everybody. ❤️ Mark

I’ve never met Rick Ross before but i’ve been a huge fan of his music since the opening bars of “Hustlin”. Album after album (his 11th LP just dropped), he’s overdelivered on quality hip hop, keeping the blueprint-era alive with at times furious and at other times beautifully laidback soulful music. He’s singlehandedly kept the Blueprint-era alive (with help from some of those OG’s—Bink & Just Blaze among others). As an emcee, he’s got a brilliant mind for catchy quips and wordplay plus there’s his billion-dollar vocal tone, that’s something you’re born with or you’re not. I mean, he’s been killing shit on records with Drake, Weezy, and Jay for over 10 years (“I’m on one” IS OVER 10 YEARS OLD, jeez). I read his latest book and it’s warm, informative, and fucking hilarious. This is one of my favourite interviews. ENJOY my friends @richforever @thefader

@theneptunes musical output is one of the staggeringly greatest in the history of music. As a dj in the 2000's, they made my job a pure joy. @pharrell has done magnificent things since then, in many worlds, but in honour of their iconic Fader cover from 2002, we kept this convo very much about this glorious time: Jay-Z, Clipse, Snoop, NERD, Britney, Gwen, NORE etc... Mick Rock was a legend who shot some of our most beloved, iconic pics of Bowie, Iggy and Lou Reed—among hundreds of others. Jimmy Fallon loved that era and brought Mick in to shoot all the pics for his debut album artwork back in ’03. I had co produced the album and played bass so Jimmy wanted us all in a pic or two. As soon as the shoot started going, Mick was so iconic and larger than life, he was the star of the shoot and we were dumbfounded and in awe of him—I was also sure that this was where Mike Meyers totally ripped off the ‘do I make you horny, baby!’ photographer bit for Austin Powers. Beyond the incredibly charming, cheeky schoolboy facade was an exceptionally warm soulful spiritual human being. As I got to know him through the years (as more than Jimmy’s bass player), he was so kind to me, he felt like family. And in turn, my family felt the same about him. Despite his very English countenance, he was a true New Yorker, a fixture, a chronicler of the Misfits, the Yeah Yeahs Yeahs, Blondie, Q-Tip. It just made me feel good to run into him sometimes, like it meant, despite everything, NY was still NY. He loved Amy and when I made that record with her, he was proud, like, “see, boy… I always knew you’d do something good!” (No shade to the BATHROOM WALL, JIMMY!) I will really miss him. As I know alot of people will. Sending love to his family at this time…❤️💔❤️💔

Like MANY of us, @bigboi has soundtracked most of my adult life. My favourite ever concert was OUTKAST January 30, 1999 at the Cameo in Miami. Along with his partner in music, Andre 3000, he’s made some of my favourite albums of all time. He’s changed how I thought about making music, gave us all license to be more daring, In this interview, we talk about so much amazing stuff. From the incredible DUNGEON FAMILY legacy from GOODIE MOB leading all the way up to Janelle, Future, Killer Mike today.
