class="content__text" Announcing our latest step in accelerating the world’s path to #netzero: our #CCS agreement with @nucorcorporation , one of North America’s largest steel producers. We’ll design, permit, install and operate facilities to capture up to 800,000 metric tons a year of CO₂ from Nucor’s manufacturing site in Convent, Louisiana. The site produces direct reduced iron, a raw material used to make high-quality steel products including automobiles, appliances and heavy equipment. Our agreement with Nucor is the latest example of how our Low Carbon Solutions business is scaling up #CCS to help reduce emissions from steel and other hard-to-decarbonize industries, which currently account for about 80% of global energy-related CO₂ emissions. It’s also a milestone for our Low Carbon Solutions business: It brings the total amount of CO₂ we’ve agreed to transport and store for our CCS customers to more than 5 million metric tons a year (MTA) – equivalent to replacing approximately 2 million gasoline-powered cars with EVs.* Our other third-party CCS agreements include ones with @lindeplc , maker of industrial gases, and CF Industries, a manufacturer of agricultural fertilizer. “Our agreement with Nucor is the latest example of how we’re delivering on our mission to help accelerate the world's path to net zero and build a compelling new business,” said Dan Ammann, president of Low Carbon Solutions. “Momentum is building as customers recognize ExxonMobil’s ability to solve emission challenges at scale.” Our CCS project with Nucor is scheduled to start up mid-2026 and supports Louisiana’s objective of net-zero CO₂ emissions by 2050.
