Thanks for posting #Repost @oldbollysongs ・・・ | Ik Pardesi Mera Dil Le Gaya 🕊️ “Tan Dole Mera Man Dole” song has the most well-known “nagin been” tune in Bollywood music, but the “been” music in this song from Phagun (1958) is just as wonderful. For those who don’t know, ‘Been’ is a traditional instrument used by snake charmers and is popular in folk music of South Asia. The catchy music and lyrics are based on Punjabi folk music, as was usually the case in many O P Nayyar songs. In keeping with the film’s subject—involving zamindars and banjaras—the music derived quite a bit from folk music. By now, OPN seemed completely smitten by Asha Bhosle. Each and every of the eleven songs in the film featured her voice. With opportunities and exposure like this, Asha Bhosle’s career flourished. This song is one of the many O P Nayyar songs that have become immortal, and have stood the test of time among youngsters too. On the screen, is a very charming Madhubala! Her character is enamoured by a stranger (pardesi) (‘Jab Jab Phool Khile’ film came later; else Shashi Kapoor would have warned her that : Pardesiyon se na akhiyan milana, Pardesiyon ko hai ik din jaana). Pardesi is not an uncommon theme in Hindi film music. Here, she is madly in love with the Pardesi who gave her मीठा मीठा ग़म when he left. M*A*S*H fans? I conquered the couch… its a thing in my house. The cats are territorial and the politics around the couch is messy. Who gets high ground. I cant fit on the window ledge so i block the entry point. But there is still himkunt pass.. that allows trade via the north end which is in a strategic L shape. ( built by Carp Zafar in the days to accomodate telly viewing comfortably from a distance- incognito) Wahaan se Kamli nikalti hai.. ( the white one doesnt) pardon ke peechhe. Aaj parde baandh diye maine. 😈. Everything is fair in falaana dhimaka. This pic was my victory pic but as i took it , behudi saamne se pooochh lehraate huay nikal gayi aur haath ispe jamey reh gaye . Chutki kaati toh kharoch dees saali. Turned around and said to me “ meow nahi beta everything is fair in falaana dhimaka” “ meow over and out” Hence my expression !!!!
