WHEN IN COMES TO “GBV” BOTH MEN & WOMEN ARE VICTIMIZED! I’ve seen so many comments in the posts I make about Gender based violence. Today & in many of my postings before, people come to confront me saying, but “women beat men too”… it’s true! But my issue is that alot of people want to approach this topic like it’s a matter of comparison, “who is victimized more, men or women?” And in most times you find that we derail from the topic and start to debate about something very obvious: PHYSICALLY women are designed naturally less stronger than men. The chances of a man being victimized by a woman is less than a woman being victimized by a man but that doesn’t make the statistics of violence against men less significant, NO!!! When you look around before you open the official books from the victim support unit, you’ll see more bruised women than men. It’s not even an issue of debate, more women are killed by their spouses in these domestic disputes & the only way we can challenge this is SPEAKING UP ON VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN! Does that mean violence against men is ignored? no!!! It means there is NO BALANCE! More women die at the hands of their intimate partners than men do. Where do you expect the balance to come from when women suffer the most? We must speak for women the most without forgetting that men too suffer and they too need to be heard.
