class="content__text" Today would have been @ninasimone 's 90th birthday ✨ The High Priestess of Soul played 5 times at Montreux Jazz Festival. She came for the first time in 1968 for the Festival's second edition and sang a beautiful version of Jacques Brel's "Ne Me Quitte Pas". In 1976, she returned from Liberia broke and settled in Switzerland with her only daughter, Lisa, for whom Claude Nobs found a school. She had not performed in public for a very long time, but Claude convinced her to play at the festival. That night, Nina gave one of the most moving concerts of her career. Nina Simone's iconic Montreux moments continue to inspire music lovers all around the world. Two years ago was released her "Montreux Years" record which will soon celebrate 50 weeks in the Official UK Jazz & Blues Charts (💿 link in bio) .
