class="content__text" Oftentimes, we are asked what we would say to the younger version of ourselves if we got the chance. When @brandonrogersla and I wrote Good Girl, we thought about what really needed to be said to 16-year-old Mikalah. The older I get, the more I fall IN LOVE with the baby version of me. It wasn’t easy being 16, in 2005, competing on a national singing competition show in front of the whole world. People had a lot more freedom to critique and say vulgar things without any consequence. I went to a concert the other day, where I saw a bunch of 16-year-old little girls, and I thought, “No way is any baby with a dream built to be judged by the world.” However, I was. My story is uniquely my own. I am so proud to share it and even more grateful that so many relate to the lyrics. Here is your reminder that “Good girls go bad”, and there is nothing wrong with that. Never give AF about anyone’s opinion of you.
