 Brian Stein 1943-2023

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Brian Stein on Monday, 15th May.

Brian, who was the Chairman of Guards Polo Club for the last five years, joined the club back in the 1987 as a player with his Ockholt Polo Team.

Brian was also an important member of the HPA Stewards since 2019 and has provided significant input into the running of the Hurlingham Polo Association and recently was instrumental in reinstating the Coronation Cup and International Day at Guards Polo Club in 2022.

He also successfully steered the Club through the Covid Pandemic and provided strong support to the HPA in keeping the sport operational during this time.

Brian was greatly involved in polo and his PJ’s Polo Party was attended and eagerly awaited by the entire polo community and celebrated the beginning of the UK polo season.

Brian was also a great supporter of Images of Polo and for this we are very grateful. Thank you Brian.

Besides his beloved polo Brian has lived a full and varied life, an entrepreneur and self made man, owning several businesses from Cafes, Restaurants and Night Clubs.

Born in South Africa, Brian served in the Israeli army as a paratrooper before he moved to London in his early twenties.

Brian you will be sorely missed by all the polo community. RIP.

We send our deepest condolences to Platina, and his children Dan, Emily, and Alice and all his family at this sad time.
