Marching across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Alabama in 2019 with excellent company—@corybooker and @revjjackson—to mark the anniversary of Bloody Sunday. On this day in 1965, civil rights activists marching for the right to vote were beaten and tear gassed. Yesterday, @KamalaHarris walked across the bridge as the first woman and the first Black person to be vice president. She said of our ongoing fight for voting rights: "In a moment of great uncertainty, those marchers pressed forward and they crossed." "We must do the same. We must lock our arms and march forward. We will not let setbacks stop us."
