Soun-Gui Kim created this intriguing work using saekdong, a traditional multicolored fabric from Korea.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Stretching the fabric like a traditional painting, Kim paints a black ink cloud using Korean ink to suggest a view from above the clouds – or perhaps the eye of the storm.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This series was conceived shortly after the artist's collaborative performance with Nam June Paik in 1984, underlining the intellectual exchange among the experimental artists during the era.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Learn more about this and other works in @arariogallery 's upcoming Online Viewing Room as part of 'OVR: Hong Kong,' the digital counterpart to our #ArtBaselHongKong show opening soon.
