If you planted a seed in your garden, you wouldn’t wake up the next morning expecting a beautiful, big tree to suddenly appear, would you? You know that the seed needs water, sun, and lots and lots of time to grow! It’s the exact same way you should approach your own fitness journey. It takes a balance of commitment, effort, and patience. It’s showing up every day, and putting in that hard work to get to your goal. As much as we wish for things to happen overnight, it does take time for growth to happen! I know that it can definitely be frustrating at times - I think back to when I had just had Arna, and was slowly starting to work out again. I felt like a beginner starting a fresh, and all I wanted was to snap my fingers and be back at my original fitness level! I knew it would take patience and hard work, and I would get to that stage again. Slowly but surely, I built up my strength and endurance, and now I feel just as strong as ever! You need to allow time for progress to happen, and you will grow in other ways on the journey too! WEEK 6 CHALLENGE ME WORKOUT - GYM VERSION 💪 🙌 The final week of the Challenge is HERE ladies, and we are going to smash it! 🤩 For those of you lucky enough to have access to a gym, here is the FINAL ‘Challenge Me’ full body workout for the Challenge! WARNING. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THIS ADORABLE FACE. 8 things my toddler threw a tantrum about recently..... 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 1. I didn't let her put her hand in the blender when I was making muffins - tantrum. 2. She didn't like her breakfast & threw it on the floor. Then was upset that it was on the floor. tantrum. 3. I wouldn't let her hold a very long and very sharp sashimi knife. tantrum. 4. She decided, just on this one occasion, that she HATES bubbles in her bathtub. tantrum. 5. She wanted Ace (my husky) to go outside because he was wet and when he didn't go outside she told me that Ace bit her hand off, when I was watching them the whole time and literally nothing happened (and she still had both hands haha). tantrum. 6. She thought my sister's dog Reggie was going to steal her sock (he was sitting near it) so she smacked him said "DATS MYYYY SOCKKKK NOOOOOO" and then.... tantrum. 7. I wouldn't let her drink my greek coffee. tantrum. 8. and now she HAS to drink water out of a tiny greek coffee cup (aka "a big girl cup"), or else.... tantrum. and the list goes on.... In episode 3 of of my 'How To' series, I'm showing you exactly how to set up and use a resistance band! 😄 There are so many types of resistance bands that can be used for many different exercises, but I want to show you how you can attach longer resistance bands to a bar to help you with things like assisted pull-ups and chin-ups! You will usually find resistance bands hanging up around the gym, or you can bring your own to ensure you've got the right size available for you. ✔️ The key thing to remember with resistance bands is that the THICKER bands have MORE resistance than the thinner bands. In the case of a pull-up or chin up, the thicker band will assist you more (as there is more resistance) making it easier for you to pull yourself up to complete the exercise. However, in most other cases (like resistance band tricep extensions or bicep curls) the thinner resistance bands actually make the exercise easier than the thicker ones! And if this confuses you a little bit, don't worry! You will instantly feel the difference and know which one is right to use when you try them out. 😅 I hope this video gives you the confidence to try an assisted pull-up or chin-up next time you are in the gym! When someone asks how much extra salt I want on my food... swipe to see! 😝 I had just finished making my lunch and was doing the final seasoning with salt, and I found out the hard way that the lid of the salt shaker was not screwed on properly 🙃🙃 Seriously though, I’ve been changing up my lunches recently, and have created my new favourite lunch that takes no time at all to make 🙌 Lunches don’t have to be super complicated and fancy to make them delicious! I normally go for something very simple like a mediterranean salad, with tuna, brown rice (or pasta), and I would be very happy to eat that every day 🤣 Having quick and easy meals means that it's more convenient for you - it's easier to reach for something healthy if it's super simple to prepare. Some people find that the best way for them is to meal prep for the week ahead, or have ingredients cut up and ready in the fridge to use! So for my new favourite salad, what I will do is grab a roast chicken from my local supermarket, and shred it all up. The salad base is a mixture of chopped up fresh tomatoes, capsicum, cucumber, red onion, brown rice, and basil. I'll then top the salad with the shredded chicken, some burrata (the most delicious creamy cheese!), olive oil, salt, oregano and balsamic glaze - tell me that doesn’t sound like the best salad ever?! 🤣 I’m hungry even thinking about it now! You could even easily swap the chicken out if you had any leftover protein from previous meals! #SWKCommunity, tell me about your go-to lunch recipes! #SweatCommunity #Food #SweatwithKayla #Lunch #SWK #foodie
